The FIFA ruling arrived and it is not good news for the Argentine team. It was confirmed that the game that had been suspended in Brazilian territory will be played again and there are sanctions for the Argentines.
The Disciplinary Court decided that the match will be in a neutral stadium and there were economic fines for both confederations. Brazil will have to pay 550 thousand Swiss francs for breaching the protocols, while Argentina will pay 250 thousand Swiss francs.
On the other hand, the most painful sanction in sports was for four Argentine soccer players: Emiliano Martínez, Emiliano Buendía, Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso were suspended for two dates for having lied in the affidavit upon entering Brazil.
Chiqui Tapia, president of the AFA, confirmed that will appeal the decision made by FIFA. “As President of AFA, I promise to make all the necessary efforts, and to appeal FIFA’s ruling in reference to the qualifying match with Brazil. Our priority is always the Argentine team,” he published minutes after the resolution.
