Bosch Ridecare, only one sensor box for damage and cigarette smoke | FormulaPassion.it

Bosch has introduced a novelty for its services To laugh. Thanks to the latest innovation, it will be possible to use a single sensor box to detect damage and cigarette smoke inside a vehicle, with the collected data able to be managed using artificial intelligence methods. With this solution Bosch could help fleet operators and mobility service providers who are constantly looking for perfect vehicle maintenance.

Those who use car sharing vehicles expect the car to be safe and not smell of smoke. It is extremely annoying to find yourself in a vehicle with scratches and dents or in which someone has smoked. The first standard function of Ridecare is precisely the detection of cigarette smoke and any damage. Bosch, with a sensor box in the vehicle, combines cloud-based data analysis using artificial intelligence. This allows the sharing service providers to know in real time if the vehicle has been damaged or if there are traces of cigarette smoke in the passenger compartment. Repair or cleaning interventions can thus be carried out more quickly, optimizing fleet management“, Bosch communicates.

The sensor boxes are precise enough to detect not only accidents, but also accidental damage during parking maneuvers, i.e. minor impacts. The box is permanently installed inside the vehicle windshield; As soon as sensor information about accidents or smoke in the passenger compartment is transmitted to a cloud backend, Bosch can use artificial intelligence methods to derive the intensity of the impact and classify it. The algorithms incorporate both vehicle ride data and additional information such as road conditions. This means that sharing service providers can know exactly whether the damage is purely cosmetic or whether it needs to be assessed and repaired immediately to ensure the safety of the vehicle. Bosch is able to identify the exact location of the damage, for example the rear bumper or the underbody, simplifying documentation and damage estimation. By combining the data from the sensor box with the images of the accident, fleet managers and mobility service operators can also obtain an estimate of the repair costs.

Pilot projects with leading sharing service providers in Asia, North America and Germany are currently under consideration in order to start mass production of the system. Bosch recently received official system approval from TÜV Süd.
