Bortone case, Marinella Soldi distances herself from CEO Roberto Sergio
“I don’t think that the disciplinary proceedings against Serena Bortone do justice to the matter, nor do it do RAI any good.” This was stated by the president of Rai, Marinella Soldiregarding the Scurati affair which the CEO of the Viale Mazzini company Roberto Sergio spoke about yesterday during the hearing in the Supervisory Commission.
“What was reported by the CEO to the Commission – clarified the Rai president – partially recounts what happened, without mentioning any significant aspects. Without prejudice to company policies, the so-called Scurati case is still the subject of checks by the company Internal Audit management, for which the president has the powers. The draft results of this audit were viewed by both me and the CEO and highlight a much more complex situation than that described by the CEO, which requires a more complete approach”.
Rai: united oppositions request hearing of Bortone and Corsini in Supervision
The opposition group leaders Stefano Graziano (Pd), Dario Carotenuto (M5s), Maria Elena Boschi (IV), Mariastella Gelmini (Action), Angelo Bonelli and Peppe De Cristoforo (Avs) have requested that the Rai Supervisory Commission take action to convene the hearing of the journalist Serena Bortone and the director of Rai analysis Paolo Corsini, in order to “clarify the Scurati case”. In a letter addressed to the president of the Rai supervisory commission Barbara Floridia, the group leaders underlined that “during the hearing of the Rai top management last night, a reconstruction of the facts emerged that was very distant from the known one without the Rai top management providing the necessary documentation that demonstrated the truthfulness of what they claimed as underlined this morning by President Soldi who denied them by speaking of omissions and partial accounts”.
The opposition therefore expresses “concern regarding the possibility that the CEO and the general director of Rai have provided untruthful information to the supervisory commission. Therefore – they add – we ask for the immediate hearing of Bortone and Corsini. The Scurati case – they conclude – cannot be dismissed in a superficial way, even just the hypothesis of censorship against a writer is not compatible with the concept of public service and with the fundamental principles of democracy.”
Fiorello jokes with CEO Sergio, ‘you can throw darts in Bortone in Viale Mazzini’
“There’s a bit of sadness in the air, it was truly a beautiful adventure, surreal”. These are the words of Fiorello during the morning show on the occasion of the penultimate episode of this second edition of VivaRai2!. We then comment on the press review with the host’s usual irony, in the company of Biggio, Casciari and the whole cast. Guest of the episode: Arisa. Fiorello begins the morning with a greeting to Rai CEO Roberto Sergio, present today at the glass: “We want to greet Rai CEO, Roberto Sergio, who is here with us after punishing Bortone. If you pass by Viale Mazzini the Bortone is tied to the right rear leg of the horse. Some who work there can throw darts. The halo has already appeared on Serena,” the showman jokes playfully.
