The police in western Brandenburg had been informed this morning by 16 schools about identical emails with threatening content, a spokeswoman for the authority said. She did not want to disclose the content.
The police checked the security at each of the schools affected. However, they did not believe there was a dangerous situation. According to the deputy head of the Brandenburg an der Havel school authority, the emails mentioned explosive devices.
Unknown people also sent threatening emails to five schools in Hamburg – thousands of students had to stay at home that morning. The police operation was terminated early in the morning and the schools were reopened.
According to the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), schools in Rhineland-Palatinate have also received anonymous bomb threats. Here too, investigators do not believe the threats are serious, but investigations are continuing. The threats are said to be related to the current situation in the Middle East with regard to the Gaza war.
