A child dies and two adults are seriously injured after the explosion of an artifact in the Miranda municipality in the department of Cauca in Colombiathe afternoon of this Friday, May 17.
The device exploded around 2:00 p.m. Colombia– when a family was traveling on a motorcycle by the Guatemalan sector, as documented by one of the country’s largest media outlets, El Tiempo.
The child and his parents were taken to an aid station but due to the severity, The minor lost his life.
Presumably the device was intended to harm authorities, according to General Federico Mejía, commander of the Specific Command of the Cauca.
“From a human source it is reported that a highly powerful explosive device was activated in the area of interference of the GaOr Dagoberto Ramos, who apparently They intended to attack the Public Force, but in their failed attempt they carried out the terrorist act, murdering three people, apparently one of them a minor,” explained General Mejía for El Tiempo.
It should be noted that on May 10, the explosives carried by a truck detonated in the same area, around the Porvenir neighborhood. One of the devices exploded near a military base; this incident left no human victims but did kill a homeless dog.
