The former president was in the hospital on Saturday (May 4), but was discharged; the new hospitalization was confirmed on the social network
The former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) reported this Sunday (May 5, 2024) that he was admitted again to Hospital Santa Júlia, in Manaus (AM), to treat erysipelas (understand below). There is no forecast for an increase.
The former head of the Brazilian Executive was in hospital the day before, Saturday (May 4), with the same problem, but was discharged. The information was confirmed on his profile on X (formerly Twitter).
In Manaus, Bolsonaro launched the federal deputy Captain Alberto Neto (PL-AM) as a pre-candidate for mayor of the city and was at a PL event, in which his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, was honored as a citizen of Amazonas.
The former president stated that he had been advised by the medical team and by Michelle about the need for rest and treatment for the disease, but he chose to maintain his public commitments. This is not the first time he has faced erysipelas, a chronic illness.
The disease is caused by bacteria that enter the body through superficial lesions on the skin and cause red wounds, usually on the face, arms and legs, which result in swelling and intense itching. Erysipelas can lead to necrosis of skin cells or invade the bloodstream, causing widespread infections if not correctly treated.
