Bizum takes a giant leap in its expansion in Spain as a payment method. It can now be used to pay in the physical point of sale (TPV) terminals, those commonly known as datáphones. A possibility that arises after the step forward of BBVAwhich becomes the first bank in our country that integrates this solution into datáphones. “This new functionality is available on the Android TPVs that have the BBVA application installed and not necessary to use the QR card or codes,” reports the Basque entity.
«The incorporation of Bizum In the Android TPV, it allows shops to generate a payment request that the client receives on their mobile device, where they can complete the operation quickly and easily. The operation of the payment with Bizum is intuitive. Once this method is selected in the BBVA application, the trade introduces the customer’s mobile phone number, who receives a notification in its device. To finish the transaction, the client only has to authorize the payment through the online banking of his financial entity, ”explains the BBVA, which adds that they have designed this process« so that the confirmation of the payment is immediate and the businesses can verify it at the time or consult the state of the operation subsequently in the specific section of Bizum within the application ».
Likewise, the financial entity also allows shops to manage returns via Bizum. “Through the corresponding menu, merchants can select the operation they want to reimburse, indicate the amount of the return and execute the transaction in a simple way,” says the bank.
With this payment method, thus, it is deepening in Bizum’s strategy to be a payment solution beyond serving money between individuals. To date it is true that it was already allowed to pay with Bizum in some electronic shops and also in physical format through links or QR codes. But now this changes the panorama since the Dataphone for the first time.
It will not require the use of cards but will follow the Bizum system, which uses the phone numbers. This step is one of the great objectives that the platform has to generalize as a payment method and make the Spaniards use the card less and less.
The fact of trying to gain ground to the card directly connects with the will in Europe to recover strategic autonomy in payments, since most of those made in the old continent are intermediated by Visa, Mastercard, Google and Apple. With Bizum, thus, all these intermediaries would be left out when leaving out the card scheme and digital purses.
