Top-5 ‘only’ in the Superpole Race
Andrea Iannone he failed to make his mark at his home round in Misano. In the previous rounds in Australia, Spain and Holland, the driver from Abruzzo had always found space in the top positions and instead on the Riviera he did not go beyond fifth place in the Superpole Race, even finishing in eleventh position in Race-2.
The Maniac commented thus on a weekend that did not have excellent prospects after the tests: “I was aware that it wouldn’t be an easy round given how the tests went in recent weeks, with the high temperatures we suffered a lot. In Race-2 we tried new tires instead of the Xs, hoping to improve some aspects, but unfortunately the feeling wasn’t good and it didn’t turn out to be the right choice. It was perhaps the most difficult weekend for me, but I’m still satisfied with getting some points. Even if we remain the first independent team, there is room for growth and we must work as a team to try to always do better.”
These are the words of the Go Eleven team manager Denis Sacchetti: “After Saturday’s race, to try to close the gap to the fight for the podium, we needed to make some important changes which certainly involved risks. On Sunday morning in the SP Race we weren’t as consistent as we would have liked in terms of pace, but we brought home a fifth place and the second row for Race-2, so in any case we improved the position. In Race-2, the choice of the medium tyre, the new one from Pirelli, was certainly wrong, and it influenced the result. It was a bet, it could have gone well or badly, that’s how it went. However, Andrea also collected data for the next stages, he scored points, but we all have a higher goal. I must say that it was a wonderful round in any case, with many friends and supporters, a fantastic and warm audience that gave us emotions, thanks Misano.”
