An authentic circular economy project based on local development that puts sustainable mobility at the center. A new synergy between local companies for the production of biomethane arrives from Bologna that will feed the bus fleet of Tper, the local transport company, strengthening the already substantial base of vehicles that the company has within its fleet in the Bolognese and Ferrara basins. “Together for a circular city“Is the claim chosen by Marconi Airport which will be alongside Hera and Tper providing food waste produced by the restaurants and activities present in the airport to create over 450,000 cubic meters of biomethane.
The joint project represents an important step towards the decarbonisation of the city of Bologna, also in view of the candidacy that the municipal administration presented to include the Emilian capital among the 100 European cities with zero climate impact by 2030 (the “100 Climate-neutral cities by 2030” as part of the Mission Horizon Europe). Together for a circular city can be identified in recent weeks through the new livery that has appeared on 11 vehicles in the Tper urban fleet that are used for the 944 Hospital Maggiore – Airport connection and on other urban lines, as well as on a hundred bus shelters in the city. In the graphics you can recognize a means of waste collection, a bus and an airplane to symbolize the three companies brought together by a great sign of infinity that wants to testify the ecological commitment of the three subjects.
Thanks to this collaboration, no fossil sources are used for the biomethane that will fuel these vehicles, opting instead for renewable sources, towards a low-carbon economy based on sustainability and the circularity of local resources. The first of the vehicles with the new livery, a Menarini Citymood produced by IIA, was presented in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna in the presence of the Councilor for coordination of ecological transition, climate pact and candidacy “Carbon neutral city” of the Municipality of Bologna, Anna Lisa Boni, and of the Councilor for Mobility and Transport of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Andrea Corsini. The use of biomethane as a fuel for vehicles boasts a series of benefits: a vehicle with this type of power supply has emissions equivalent to an electric one powered entirely by wind energy, if we take into account the impacts of all phases from extraction / production. fuel up to its use in propulsion.
