Bildu has apologized for voting by “error” for a PNV amendment in the draft Law on the Efficiency of the Public Justice Service that will allow expedite evictions in cases of squatting for trespassing, a modification that has been carried out with the support of the PP, ERC and Bildu and despite the vote against by the parties that are part of the coalition Government.
In a statement, Bildu has accepted the error, insisting on its rejection to the measure proposed by PNV and has committed to try to reverse it and amend it “as soon as possible in coherence with the contrary position” that the political party has maintained “whenever this measure has been proposed by different groups in Congress.” “With this message we do not intend to justify or excuse our error, but rather reaffirm our commitment to what we have defended in terms of housing all these years. We will continue working on that path,” they have stated from Bildu.
Specifically, the amendment has been introduced in the draft Law on the Efficiency of the Public Justice Service, approved in the Plenary Session of Congress with the support of the Government and its allies against the vote against the PP and Vox. However, the PNV amendment means modify article 795.1 of the LECrim so that the crimes of usurpation of residence (article 245 of the Penal Code) and trespassing (article 202 of the Penal Code) will be processed by the abbreviated procedure of judicial processes, the so-called quick trials, which will expedite their resolution and the evictions that may be ordered.
The PNV proposal has been rejected both in the presentation and in the Justice Commission, but this Thursday it was approved in the Plenary Session of Congress thanks to the support of the PP, Junts, ERC, Bildu, UPN and CC, overcoming the opposition of the PSOE, Sumar, Podemos and the BNG , while Vox has abstained, according to the voting list. The modification has already been introduced in the Justice Efficiency Law that has been sent to the Senate, where the PP has an absolute majorityso it is no longer expected to be revoked.
As the PNV recalls, the nationalist formation has already introduced another amendment in the commission phase so that Basque is established as a requirement in a quota of vacancies in the Administration of Justice in the Autonomous Community of Euskadi. This pact will serve to “serve Basque citizens more adequately and offer better public service provision to those who wish to exercise their right to express themselves in Basque,” they highlight.
