Bez's misfortune
Austin was yet another difficult day at the start of the season, however Marco Bezzecchi. In fact, the rider from Rimini is continuing to struggle in his adaptation to the Desmosedici GP23 and in the short Texan race he was also hit by the bad luck. As he himself revealed to the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP in fact, a contact at the start of the race with Alex Marquez he compromised his chances of fighting for some championship points.
“I got off to a good start but there was some traffic ahead and to avoid catching Pecco I was hit by Alex Marquez – he told Sky Sports MotoGP the Bez – obviously it can happen in the melee and a whole part of my hull broke, so I did an entire part of the race without wings. The bike pulled me to the right and it didn't go well”.
Working to improve
In general, contacts aside, Bezzecchi continues to fail to extract the maximum potential from the bike that won the world title last year: “On Saturday morning in practice I slipped to try to set a better time and when you start from behind these things can happen. The pace isn't bad thoughobviously it wasn't a fight to win, but I managed to catch up with the group in front, but not to overtake it”.
“I was right there and on the last lap I tried to throw myself at Binder a bit like hope in God – concluded Bezzcchi – but I didn't make it. We are making improvements and I am quite positive for the GP. We hope to get through the first 3-4 corners and then it will be another type of race. With the grip I'm pretty good, byou have to manage the front tire well because this is a track that puts it in difficulty“.
