Leonardo Bonucci (Lapresse)
Fagioli’s bets? Bonucci pops up in the chats. “Others Knew Too”
Nicolò Fagioli’s “illness” was no secret. Repubblica writes this today, according to which “some of his highly experienced teammates were aware of the young midfielder’s gambling addiction: on record there would be conversations between Fagioli and Leonardo Bonucci on the topic of betting. But there is no evidence that the defender participated in the bets.”
As Repubblica explains, Bonucci was not the only one. “Checks are underway on other non-footballer members who also appear to have been aware of Fagioli’s habit. One would be part of the technical staff, it certainly isn’t about coach Massimiliano Allegri. That illness wasn’t a secret even for the bookies, who grossed more than a million euros in just a few months, of which they kept fifty percent.”
In Fagioli’s chats the dialogues with Tonali and Zaniolo
Again according to what Repubblica writes, the police are checking whether there are grounds to contest the crimes of usury or extortion. From a sporting point of view, however, there is the risk of failure to report. As Repubblica always reminds us, “according to the sporting justice code, anyone who finds out about a player or a club who has bet or is about to do so, has the obligation to inform without delay, specifies the code, the federal prosecutor’s office. For those who do not do so, the penalty is heavy: no less than six months’ disqualification.”
Dialogues also emerge from the chats Zaniolo and Tonali. “It is certain that they played on illegal sites, unless they limited themselves to online casinos, poker and blackjack. In the conversations the police believe they found elements that lead the investigators to think that the two Italians also took part in the football bets”, always maintains Repubblica . The story could obviously spread to other players.
