Opta, a company specializing in digital statistics and a world leader in football data analysis, presented its “supercomputer” predictions about the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar, where the computer uses complex algorithms and information to reach the final prediction.
The supercomputer indicates that Japan is the most likely team to win the title with a rate of 24.6%, and that it is expected to be in the semi-finals with a rate of 52.8%. In second place in terms of expectations for achieving the title is the South Korean team with a rate of 14.3%, then Iran with 11.2%. After them, the Australian and Saudi teams are competing for primacy with a percentage of 10.7% and 10.6%, respectively, while the probability of the defending champion, Qatar, winning for the second time in a row is 9.8%, while the UAE team’s percentage of winning the title does not exceed 2.9%, according to expectations.
Speaking of the UAE national team, the supercomputer expects “Al-Abyad” to reach the round of 16 with a percentage of 78.8%, which is the role in which the team’s mission is most likely to stop. As for reaching the quarter-finals, the probability is 40.9%, while attendance in the golden square is 40.9%. 17.5%, followed by the final score of only 7.5%. It is also expected, according to the computer, that our national team will occupy second place in the groups with a rate of 36.5%, behind Iran and ahead of Palestine and Hong Kong.
