The party of musician and politician Dominik Wlazny is running in the parliamentary elections in the fall. Now she needs staff: it’s not just beer that attracts visitors.
Vienna – Just a week ago, the Austrian rock musician and politician Dominik Wlazny announced that he would be running with his beer party in the autumn parliamentary elections. Now the founder of the left-wing and liberal group is looking for reinforcements in Vienna. The job advertisements on the party’s website are looking for an “Office Manager” and “Community Manager”.
Job offers are tempting: a salary of 2,800 euros and always beer in the fridge
The job offers offer exciting work areas and a gross monthly salary of 2,800 euros for a 40-hour week. Perhaps not entirely uninteresting for potential candidates: “The fridge is always full,” as the beer party emphasizes on its Instagram account.
The job advertisements and their conditions elicit mixed reactions on the social media platform: “Unfortunately you don’t pay enough, otherwise I would be there straight away,” writes one Instagram user. Others express their enthusiasm: “We looked for beer drinkers and found them,” says another comment.
Surprising numbers: Wlazny’s beer party could receive more than eight percent of the vote
The party will need support under Wlazny, who is also known by his stage name Marco Pogo. He only caused a stir as a candidate in the presidential elections in 2022, when he received more than eight percent of the vote.
According to current opinion polls, the Beer Party can expect five to seven percent of the vote in the fall, enough to enter the Austrian National Council. In the polls, the right-wing FPÖ is currently well ahead of the Social Democrats and the conservative Chancellor’s Party ÖVP with around 30 percent.
Wlazny had originally announced that he would only run if his party could grow to 20,000 members by the end of April and secure a budget of 1.2 million euros. Only about half of the financing goal was achieved, but Wlazny was optimistic. “Our glass is more than half full,” said the 37-year-old at a press conference in Vienna.
On its website, the party promotes issues such as equal opportunities through an active fight against child and family poverty and for transparent and comprehensible rental price regulation. (bg/dpa)
