BBVA has appointed Antonio Bravo new global head of the Data area, replacing Ricardo Martín Manjón, which the bank leaves to undertake new professional challenges, the bank reported on Wednesday.
Created in 2017 with a direct report to President Carlos Torres, the Data area has accelerated the bank’s transformation towards a data-based organization (‘Data-Driven’) and has increased its capabilities remarkably in recent years, the entity explained.
The objective of the area is to work with the business units in the development of new products and lead the transformation of productive processes through the strategic use of data and artificial intelligence. This specialized team of engineers and data scientists, among others, includes the AI Factors in Spain, Mexico and Türkiye.
Antonio Bravo joined BBVA in 2011, to the strategy and M&A team, where he participated in the creation of BBVA Ventures, dedicated to investments in disruptive companies. Subsequently, he held different positions of responsibility in the BBVA group: business development in South America; Responsible for the project to implement the ‘Agile’ methodology in the organization; Responsible for the Strategy and Control Unit of the Engineering Area; and responsible for strategy of the sustainability area.
Since January 2024, the manager has led the strategy, coverage of corporate clients and business ‘Cross Border’ business of the sustainability and corporate & investment banking areas (CIB).
