Paris Saint-Germain has been eliminated from the Champions League. On Wednesday evening, the Parisians lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich, which qualified for the quarter-finals of the billion dollar ball. For PSG star attackers Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, the tournament is over early.
Daley Blind and Ryan Gravenberch started on the bench at Bayern Munich, only Matthijs de Ligt was assigned a basic place from the Dutch enclave. It is up to him to stop Messi and Mbappé. In the previous game in the French capital, Mbappé was not fit enough for ninety minutes, but PSG became a lot more menacing after coming on. Nevertheless, the Parisians lost 0-1 to Bayern three weeks ago.

Paris Saint-Germain sought the attack in the first half and came close to scoring the opening goal in the 37th minute. Vitinha snatched the ball from Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer in his own sixteen-meter area; the midfielder then thought to push the ball into the empty goal until De Ligt saved his team with an interception on the goal line. Moments before, Bayern was dangerous through an attempt by Jamal Musiala, but both teams went into the break without goals.
In the second half, Bayern thought they would take the lead, but the referee canceled Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting’s goal. Moments later, it was a hit for the striker, who punished fumbling in the Parisian build-up and put Bayern at 1-0. Although the Parisians sought to attack, they could not prevent a knockout. Just before the end, Serge Gnabry decided the game 2-0. The Germans qualified for the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
