The words of the CEO of Ducati
The Emilia Romagna GP in Misano was uncertain until the last lap. Enea Bastianini chased Jorge Martin for a long time without ever finding a gap, but in the last lap he struck at the braking point of the Rio curve. The 2020 Moto2 world champion got the better of Jorge Martin, who was forced to go wide after being caught on the inside by his brand teammate.
The Race Direction did not intervene on the episode and the CEO of Ducati Claudio Domenicali agrees with the Commissioners’ assessment: “Racing is like that. The last lap is always special. It was a bit of a limit overtaking, but Jorge also, perhaps, went a bit long and there we referred to what the Race Direction said and I think they judged that there were no grounds for the penalty. We agree with them and we are happy for Bastianini who rode a great race.“, Domenicali’s words to the microphones of DAZN.
The Misano weekend gave Ducati its sixth Constructors’ title and its 100th victory in the premier class: “We have reached 100 victories in MotoGP and we are the first Europeans, Italians, to do it – added Domenicali – and of course we are also happy to have won the Constructors’ title for the fifth time in a row, the sixth in total”.
