One million breakfasts for families in difficulty and three emergency vehicles for medical transport. These are the numbers of some of the charitable donations made by the Barilla Group since 2020 to the local committees of the Italian Red Cross (CRI)an association which this year celebrates its 160th anniversary, in the month in which it is celebrated throughout the world with the World Red Cross Daywhich was held last May 8th.
Barilla – reports a note – always committed to strengthening ties with the communities in which it operates, it has actively supported the Italian Red Cross with important charitable initiatives. This year the company donated an emergency ambulance for medical transport to the Novara Committee of the Cri, with a ceremony in the presence of the institutions and the local community. A gesture that accompanies the regular product donations that the group makes to local accredited organizations, including the Cri Committees and the Pediatric Oncology department of the Novara Hospital. The vehicle, dedicated to neonatal emergency transport, is equipped with a thermal bassinet and will be available to the pediatric oncology department of the Maggiore di Novara. An initiative started from the will of the voluntary employees and part of the Erg Group of the Barilla factory in Novara, operational since 2016, in line with the principles of the group and its path in promoting inclusion in the world of work. Even in past years, the company donated two emergency vehicles to the Cri Committees of Castiglione delle Stiviere and Cremona.
Always supporting initiatives and projects that promote access to food for disadvantaged communities, the group – the note reports – has been close to the community of Parma on several occasions, making a donation worth a total of over 2 million euros to various associations, including some Committees of the Cri. A gesture that expressed the group’s closeness to those in difficulty, starting from the territories where the company is based. These significant initiatives are in addition to the product donations by Mulino Bianco in 2021. Mulino Bianco, for years committed to donating its products to associations dedicated to collecting food to help the needy, has in fact decided to increase its donations , donating to the Italian Red Cross a quantity of product sufficient to guarantee 1 million breakfasts to the families most in difficulty during the pandemic. The breakfasts were distributed by the association throughout the national territory, for the benefit of the weakest sections of the population.
