Laporta said the club will request all footage and audio recordings of the case from the Spanish Football Federation.
The match was temporarily stopped for several minutes when the video assistant referee tried to ensure that Al-Amin Jamal's shot crossed the goal line, but he did not find a clear angle for the ball, so the decision remained not to count the goal.
“If the club confirms that an error has been made in the case review, we will take all available measures to reverse the situation, without ruling out any necessary legal action,” Laporta added.
“If we confirm that the goal is correct, we will proceed with taking the necessary measures and will not rule out requesting a replay of the match, as happened in another match in Europe due to the video assistant referee technology.”
A rematch was decided in the Belgian first division between Anderlecht and Genk due to an error committed by the video assistant referee, after the league’s disciplinary committee upheld Genk’s appeal.
Laporta said he was dissatisfied with the “improper use” of VAR technology, adding that the tool causes “confusion and contradictory standards depending on matches and teams.”
He added, “We understand the difficulty that referees face, but that is why there are such tools (such as video assistant referee technology) that should help the competition be fairer and not the other way around.”
