Banco Santander joins the wave of solidarity with those affected by DANA in Valencia

The terrible effects caused by DANA throughout Eastern Spain, and which have hit the province of Valencia with special virulence, have overwhelmed everyone. For a week now, hundreds of images and testimonies have provoked consternation, first, and a wave of solidarity, then, directed towards people who have lost their loved ones, their homes and their businesses.

Like the rest of Spanish society and other companies, Santander Bank has dedicated itself to the thousands of people affected by this catastrophe. And for this reason, the entity calls to continue with the extraordinary citizen collaboration that, thanks to the capillarity and penetration of the bank’s network throughout the national territory, has already managed to raise 12.5 million euros through the numbers account information provided by the entity. These funds will be directed to supporting various NGOs that are acting on the ground.

Banco Santander has also implemented a series of measures aimed at directly helping the people who are experiencing the worst problems due to the effects derived from DANA. Among them, for example, is the donation of two million euros to help the victims and the decision, furthermore, to match the contributions made by each of its employees.

Likewise, the entity has deployed the insurance action protocol for extraordinary weather events, in order to help those who have home insurance in all the relevant procedures from the first moment. Although the majority of claims caused by this DANA are covered by the Insurance Compensation Consortium, outside the contractual scope of the home insurance policy, the bank has contacted them to facilitate the procedures with the Consortium, in addition to a 24-hour telephone service (91 343 58 70) and communication through WhatsApp, app and digital alternatives to resolve the incident.

Likewise, in the case of business products, Santander | MAPFRE —Multirisk Commerce & SMEs, Civil Liability and Cyberinsurance—, The 24-hour telephone numbers 900 81 08 55 and 91 836 61 69 have been enabled. The affected farmers and ranchers are also being contacted in order to advance Agroseguro compensations. The Caser-Agroseguro’s contact telephone numbers are 91 590 96 84 and 902 45 45 95.


Banco Santander is also helping those who are not clients of the entity by eliminating commissions at ATMs in the province of Valencia and will not charge its own clients when they withdraw cash from other entities. A first calculation speaks of 15,000 clients who have already benefited of this measure, both at ATMs and at point-of-sale terminals available in stores.

In addition, the entity is working to replace as soon as possible the damaged cars that the bank finances through its insurance department. renting and has expanded stocks to offer customers who cannot use their vehicles, with the aim of having ready 1,000 cars available immediately.
