The National Seismological Survey, operated by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), has reported on a series of earthquakes that have shaken the Baja California area since noon, generating concern among both local authorities and the general population.
According to the first reports, the The first earthquake was recorded at 11:24 in the morning, 23 kilometers north of Guadalupe Victoria, in Baja California, with a magnitude of 4.1. However, this was not an isolated event, as several more earthquakes occurred throughout the day.
An hour later, another 5.0 magnitude earthquake shook the region, followed by another of magnitude 4.1 at 12:33. Seismic activity continued with a fourth earthquake at 11:45, followed by two more at 12:33 and 12:55, with magnitudes of 4.0 and 4.6 respectively.
The state’s Civil Protection authorities have used social networks to report on the situation. According to the Ensenada Scientific Research and Higher Education Center, the first earthquake was 5.0 degrees and had its epicenter near the town of Delta Mexicali, generating several noticeable aftershocks in the region.
Caution and attention to seismic activity
Although several aftershocks have been felt, So far, no damage to structures or need for medical attention has been reported.. Authorities have highlighted the importance of remaining alert and following safety recommendations in case of future earthquakes.
In this sense, the state governor, Marina del Pilar has made a call through social networks to follow the recommendations of local authorities and recalled that the emergency number 911 is available for any eventuality that may arise due to seismic activity in the region.
