Perfect Pecco at Mugello
After 10 months Francesco Bagnaia he returned to win a Sprint race in MotoGP. The last success on Saturday dates back to the domination in Austria at the Red Bull Ring, today Mugello confirmed itself as the hunting ground of the two-time world champion who took the lead at the first corner and never relinquished it until the checkered flag.
Behind his back Jorge Martin he crashed while he was in third place, Bagnaia was convinced that in reality the world championship leader was second: “I didn’t expect Marquez to be so close – Bagnaia declared to the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP – I saw Martin’s crash on the big screen and then I realized that Marquez was very close. So I took half a second off my pace again, I had slowed down a bit because I thought we had made more of a difference in third.”
In view of tomorrow’s race Bagnaia does not rule out the soft rear: “We’ll have to see the temperatures a bit and there are several more laps to manage. Today it was important to finish and above all to finish like this also because we were already very fast in Barcelona and I crashed on the last lap. Even today it wasn’t easy to manage the front at times because it tended to close.”
