The former striker of Parma, Lazio, Inter, Genoa and Milan does not come out of the crisis and loses his position. At the beginning of the season he had won the Paulista title but in Serie A things were going badly. In Libertadores and National Cup even worse, so the club decided to close the experience
Foreign coaches are all the rage in Brazil. But only those that have great results. Hernán Crespo had even been Paulista champion with San Paolo at the beginning of this season, a title that the Morumbi tricolor had not won since 2005, but the results obtained were not enough for the Argentine to keep his place. Exempted.
IN DANGER
–
The former striker from Parma, Lazio, Inter Milan, Genoa, who also coached Modena, fails to enchant the Brazilian Serie A: San Paolo is in 13th place, with 30 points in 25 games, just three points away and four positions from the relegation zone. In total, Crespo led San Paolo in 53 games, with 24 wins, 19 draws and ten defeats.
OTHER DISAPPOINTMENTS
–
The poor results were not limited to the Brazilian championship. At the Copa Libertadores, Crespo’s team was eliminated in the quarterfinals, beaten 3-0 by city rivals Palmeiras. In the Brazilian Cup, a 3-1 defeat against Fortaleza – the provincial who are also enjoying an excellent season in Serie A – resulted in the elimination of San Paolo in the quarterfinals as well.
IN ITS PLACE
–
Rogerio Ceni will take Crespo’s place at the helm of the San Paolo. For the former goalkeeper it is a return to the Brazilian club: after 25 years as a player – between youth and first team from 1990 to 2015 – Ceni moved to the helm of the club in the 216/2017 season, before joining Fortaleza.
