Tens of centimeters of snow fell on Johanna Hellsten's yard in Länsi-Vantaa.
“It was quite a shock,” Johanna Hellsten describes his mood when he looked at the yard in the morning.
“It's a week until May Day, it's not typical.”
Hellsten lives in Askisto, West Vantaa, which is located near the Espoo border. At 7:30 in the morning, according to him, there was already 20 centimeters of snow in the yard. He estimated that there had been about a centimeter of snow in the yard the day before.
A picture taken with a tape measure on Tuesday evening shows that 36 centimeters of snow had already accumulated in the yard.
of Hellsten luckily for himself, he didn't have to start snow work in a hurry in the morning, because he and his partner worked remotely.
A bigger problem came up in the morning. Their car had summer tires and the roads near them had not been plowed.
However, there was a pick-up order waiting at K-supermarket, which could not be delivered home. Hellsten ended up calling a taxi, and warned about unplowed roads. The taxi came, took her to the store to pick up the shopping and brought her back home.
Snow work the turn came in the afternoon and evening. Hellsten says that they have a big yard with a long road. There was enough work for several hours. There was plenty of space in the yard for storing snow.
“The only sad thing is that my tulips are under a giant pile of snow,” says Hellsten.
According to him, they already had a couple of buds before the snowfall.
On Wednesday, he leaves for nearby work. According to him, the only public transport that goes to their area are buses. They were completely canceled until 5 pm on Tuesday, he says. He hopes that on Wednesday he can take the bus to work.
“We wake up a little before six o'clock and see what happens,” he laughs.
