Among the features that have emerged on AvowedObsidian's new first-person RPG, there's also the fact that, unlike many other current RPGs, it does not include romance Between companions of the party, as reported by the developers to Eurogamer.net.
After the recent presentation at the Developer Direct this month, Avowed was at the center of a series of insights, including the subsequent extended video commented by the Obsidian developers, as well as interviews and more and from one of these this also emerged 'other information.
Despite the romances, that is love stories among the characters of the game, were present in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and other titles of the team, these are not foreseen in Avowed, because Obsidian simply wanted to focus on something else.

“To make them effective, you have to invest time in them,” explained the director Carrie Patel“we also need to balance everything that needs to be included within a romantic relationship to ensure that even those who do not choose to follow romantic paths can still have a complete and satisfying experience with these companions”, elements that, apparently, for the Avowed developers they were secondary to the development of other aspects.
Romance is now a prevalent feature in large-caliber RPGs, as we have seen in several BioWare titles and also in those of Larian, clearly including Baldur's Gate 3, but Avowed evidently has no intention of following this trend.
According to how Obsidian structured the stories and relationships between the characters, love stories would therefore not have found space or made particular sense: “we also wanted to avoid that bizarre feeling that emerges when you find yourself having to save the world together with a person with whom we may have just broken off a relationship, while continuing to travel together,” Patel explained.
