With the intention of bringing the figure of Da Vinci closer to genius, focusing on his most essential feature, his insatiable curiosity, the exhibition ‘Leonardo da Vinci. Observe. Question. Experimenta’, organized by the La Caixa Foundation and with the collaboration of the Murcia City Council and the Château du Clos Lucé – Parc Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition can be seen until October 3 on Avenida de la Libertad in Murcia.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated this Monday by the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta; together with the Councilor for Culture, Diego Avilés; the territorial director of the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community of CaixaBank, Olga García; the territorial delegate of the la Caixa Foundation in the Region of Murcia, Lourdes Toribio; and the curator of the exhibition, Érika Goyarrola, commemorates the fifth centenary of the death of the Florentine polymath of the Italian Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519).
Understood as an experience for visitors, the exhibition goes beyond the exhibition and combines the audiovisual show, the street display of full-scale models, games and augmented reality, to connect one of the most brilliant minds in history. of humanity with our daily lives. Contemporary language and close to the younger audience, with the ultimate goal of stimulating creativity and fostering curiosity.
The project has had the collaboration of the prestigious Château du Clos Lucé – Parc Leonardo da Vinci center and with the scientific advice of the historian Pascal Brioist. It took two years of work by a multidisciplinary team made up of experts in Leonardo da Vinci, architects, engineers, scriptwriters, audiovisual producers and specialists in design, multimedia game programming and augmented reality.
Inside the exhibition, visitors will be able to delve into Leonardo’s thought. A large audiovisual projection, produced expressly for the exhibition, welcomes attendees by presenting them with any day of our daily life, inspired by Leonardo’s gaze.
Following the tour, the curious will be able to find seven interactive analog and digital games with which they can play to understand, experiment to create, and discover, after Leonardo’s achievements in the most varied disciplines, the common denominator of intelligence and sensitivity.
inspiring prototypes
The interaction continues outside with the display of four full-scale models. These are faithful interpretations of Leonardo da Vinci’s original drawings, built with materials of our time. For its realization, state-of-the-art technology has been used and a team of engineers specialized in the construction of robots and prototypes has been involved.

These pieces are the aerial screw, a theoretical exploration to demonstrate that the shape of the Archimedean screw could be useful to overcome the density of air and that this sketch is considered to represent, in some way, the first prototype of the future helicopter; the Vitruvian man, the famous drawing, which, accompanied by anatomical notes, is a study of the proportions of the human body; the flying machine, which inspired the creation of the hang glider; and the paddle boat, which can be considered an antecedent of the Mississippi paddle boats.
Lastly, augmented reality makes an appearance in the exhibition with the free Leonardo CaixaForum application designed as an interpretation tool. Visitors, by scanning the QR codes that they will find in the exhibition, will be able to see what the models would have looked like with the original materials of the time (iron, wood, rope, leather, linen), and how their movements would have been just like Leonardo I had imagined them.
