Forget all Ferraris and Lambos, this WiLL Cypha is truly an exotic.
We have said it before: the nicest spots are the spots where you really have to look at the type designation to see what you have in front of you. We have another one in this category. This green device that was spotted in Gouda is not a Mitsubishi, not a Nissan, not a Toyota, but… a WiLL Cypha.
WiLL
With this car we not only have to explain what model it is, but the brand also needs an introduction. WiLL was a partnership between several Japanese brands, founded in 1999. The intention was for WiLL to be a very hip brand, with a young target group. The actual target group was probably mainly 'older young people'.
Beer and folding bicycles
If you think WiLL was only a car brand, you are wrong. Because it was a joint venture between different companies, it produced a wide variety of products, all of which could be ordered via willshop.com. From beer to folding bicycles and from air fresheners to tourist tours: you can't imagine anything so crazy.
Toyota Ist
At WiLL you could order beer, but also a complete car. Toyota also participated in the project. The Cypha we see here is the third and last model from WiLL. This car was launched in 2002 and is closely related to the Toyota Ist. You probably don't know it either, but that is the predecessor of the Urban Cruiser that was also delivered to us.
Cyberphaeton
The name Cypha was a contraction of 'cyber' and 'phaeton'. The cyber part referred to the fact that this car was from Toyota's advanced G-Book system. You could use this to get information about, for example, restaurants in the area or films that were showing in the cinema and you could send and receive messages. And all that in 2002.
Four-burner
Engine-wise, the WiLL Cypha was anything but exotic. The car was available with two modest powertrains: a 1.3 and a 1.5 four-cylinder. This copy is equipped with the 86 hp 1.3, which we know from the Yaris. According to the license plate information, it also likes LPG.
Exotic
You won't find the WiLL Cypha much even in Japan, but in the Netherlands it is a true exotic. There are only three examples driving around in our country. @anoniemeautofan has won a real top spot with this.
