Yes, we know, talking about a family sports car is already a contradiction, but the rule is that you shouldn't be surprised at anything when talking about engines. The latest example comes from Audi, busy these days with the launch of the car which had been anticipated by the RS 6 Avant GTO concept in 2020 and which is now called the RS 6 Avant GT instead.
Track performance
Inspired by the 1989 Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, the one that won the American Championship of the same name, the RS 6 Avant GT brings with it an extraordinarily muscular design which could only match power and performance: the twin-turbo V8 4.0 TFSI has 630 CV ee offers a torque of 850 Nm. Thanks to the reduction of 40 kg compared to the standard model and 15 kg compared to the performance variant, the newcomer sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, a tenth less compared to the RS 6 Avant performance and 3 tenths less when compared to the RS 6 Avant. No less significant is the passage from 0 to 200 km/h in 11.5 seconds and the maximum speed of 305 km/h. All combined with the eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission which uses the launch control function and works in combination with quattro permanent all-wheel drive.
40 examples destined for Italy
The Audi RS 6 Avant GT, unlike the standard model, is not produced entirely in Neckarsulm: once the assembly of the body and bodywork, including painting, has been completed, the car is transferred to be completed at the certified carbon neutral Böllinger Höfe site of excellence, ” cradle” of the Audi R8 supercar and the Audi e-tron GT electric GT. The finishing of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT is entrusted to a team of 7 specialists who dedicate an entire day of work to each of the 660 examples across three in-line stations. The RS 6 Avant GT will reach Italy – for which only 40 units are reserved – during the second quarter of 2024 with prices starting from 246,000 euros.
