How would you feel if you sold a vase at the flea market for 5 euros, only to see someone put a flower in it and sell it for 15 euros? You may find it very unfair; or next time you go to the florist yourself. Audi chooses not to complain about tuners like Abt who are happy to charge a ton more for a converted RS 6. No, they now come with carbon fiber themselves goodies and some extra power: this is the Audi RS 6 GT.
Readers with a good memory will immediately see that this station wagon looks a lot like the Audi RS 6 GTO from 2020. Audi then released a group of trainees on an Avant to pay a driving tribute to the great Audi 90 IMSA GTO. That project was slightly wilder than this production version with closed rims, a roll cage, bucket seats and a side exhaust, but the rear spoiler was copied almost one-to-one from the GTO.
For the first time a carbon fiber bonnet from Audi
This does not mean that Audi makes it easy with a sticker set and some logos. The bumpers, grille, side skirts and diffuser are different from the normal RS 6 and for the first time Audi is installing a carbon fiber hood on a production model. They even leave a piece unpainted so you can see that it is really carbon fiber. The wide front fenders with air outlets are also made of carbon fiber and specially designed for the Audi RS 6 GT.
The dampers have been replaced by a manually adjustable coilover set. Because they now have more setting options, you can tweak the car better when you go to the track, for example. Well, no one does that, but the idea is nice. You can also omit the coilovers and go for the adaptive dampers or the air suspension of the normal RS 6. The rear differential has been adjusted so that the rear end is more inclined to make excursions. So nice. The car is not on racing tires, but on sporty Continentals.
Let's talk about the power for a moment. Audi does not go all out and gives the 4.0-liter V8 a modest 30 hp and 50 Nm extra for a total of 630 hp and 850 Nm. Indeed, the same power as the RS 6 Performance. The 0-to-100 time of 3.3 seconds is 0.1 second lower than that of the Performance. The 0-to-200 time is 11.5 seconds. The top speed is 305 km/h and you always get ceramic brakes to bring things to a stop.
If you order the Audi RS 6 GT in white, you can select the stickers in the Audi Sport colors (black, gray and red). If you go for a black or Nardo gray car, you will receive a sticker set without red tones. With the white car you always get white rims; with the other paint colors they are matt or high-gloss black.
Carbon fiber bucket seats
Inside, Audi installs bucket seats with a carbon fiber back. In addition, there is a lot of Dinamica fabric, which is a kind of Alcantara, and a lot of red stitching. The belts are also in red. On the center console you can see which of the 660 copies you have. If you like it, you can have carbon fiber decorative pieces installed.
The Dutch price of the Audi RS 6 GT is not yet known. In Germany it costs about 80,000 euros more than the Performance. That would mean that in the Netherlands you would end up with a price of somewhere above 300,000 euros.
