Atlético de Madrid has reported this Friday through a statement that it has completed the investigation to identify those involved who threw objects onto the field of play from a sector of the south end during the last Madrid derby at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and that forced stop the game for a few minutes. The specific mattress entity that, after this work, has decided to permanently expel nine members for acts classified in the club’s internal regulations as very serious.
The red and whites detail that the investigation has been carried out in collaboration with the National Police over the course of a month, in which the entity’s security department has provided audiovisual materials to identify the perpetrators of the events.
In the statement, Atlético expresses its “strongest condemnation of any expression of violence” and the commitment to “fight against this type of attitudes that have no place in football”: “They do not represent the feelings of our fans and tarnish the image of Atlético de Madrid.”
The colchoneros emphasize that the attitude of the nine expelled members “does not represent the feelings of the fans”
Once the investigation is over, the club has announced that it is restarting the sale of tickets for away matches to those members located in the southern end. One of the measures that the colchoneros adopted after what happened in the match against Real Madrid was not to sell tickets for Seville, Vic, Paris, Palma de Mallorca and Prague to season ticket holders who sit in that sector of the Metropolitano stands. It has also since been prohibited to wear clothing that hides the faces of fans.
At the same time, it is worth remembering that the rojiblancos had to partially close the lower area of the south end during the match against Leganés due to the sanction imposed by the RFEF Competition Committee. Initially it was to be completed over three matches, but Atlético appealed and the Appeal reduced it to a single match. The financial fine was also reduced from 45,000 to 3,000 euros.
On the other hand, Atlético de Madrid is awaiting the decision that the Secretary of State for Security adopts on the proposal of the Anti-Violence Commission, which proposes a complete closure of the Metropolitano for two weeks and a fine of 65,000 euros.
