Beyond the terrible semester that Atlas lived, nobody expected the dismissal of Diego Cocca. The Argentine coach, great architect of the two-time championship, looked solid in his position in the team, however, by mutual agreement and given the possibility of making the leap to European football, the Argentine and the red and black decided to separate their paths.
Right now, the team from Guadalajara is assessing options to fill the gap that Cocca has left within the squad and although they had various names on the table, the Atlas board will bet on the least expected option. Directly from Malaysian football, the red and blacks are about to close the signing of Benjamín Mora.
After ruling out options such as Larcamón, Lillini or Siboldi, among others, sources in Mexico confirm that in the following hours the club will announce Mora’s arrival on the Guadalajara bench. Benjamín is a Mexican coach who, although he has been a multi-champion in Asia, has never directed within the Liga MX, this being his first experience in Mexican soccer, both at the club level and at the national team level. While it is an interesting bet from Orlegi, at the same time he has a high level of risk.
