The Colombian long distance runner Leidy Romero reported that he was the victim of a robbery last Saturday in the vicinity of the Simon Bolivar Park of the capital of the Republic.
Total insecurity
“The athlete from the Elite Asics team and belonging to the Bogotá League, He left his training in the park on the morning of this Saturday, May 11, around 8:30 am, and took the 68th Avenue bike path north. A thief, taking advantage of the construction work in the sector, hid in the shadows and came out by surprise, threatening her with a knife and taking her bicycle,” she said. www.runningcolombia.com
“One is left in shock, but this is the height of insecurity. This is the third bicycle that has been stolen from me, but this one had a very special sentimental value, because it was a ‘cycle of love’, that my relatives helped me buy when I needed it most, because I couldn’t run and I was injured. With her I started this process again and that is what hurts me the most,” said Romero.
Some time ago, in that same place, the marchers were victims of thieves. Eider Arévalo, Diego Pinzón and Esteban Soto, who was beaten and suffered serious facial injuries.
“After a robbery they send a couple of police officers to go around and they don’t show up again. We need more support from the authorities. This is already uncontrollable,” said Romero.
