“Ataya” charity exhibition concluded its activities successfully yesterday. During the past five days, it witnessed a remarkable turnout from the public, who donated in the interest of achieving the exhibition’s humanitarian goals.
The “Ataya” charity exhibition, which is organized annually by the Emirates Red Crescent, under the patronage and vision of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, Assistant to the President of the Authority for Women’s Affairs and Chairman of the Ataya Higher Committee, included a wide variety of distinctive fashion, fine jewelry, accessories and home furniture. Designed by local and international creative designers and artists.
Hind Al Muhairbi, Director of the Ataya Project, confirmed that “the exhibition has achieved success during its current session, and this was evident from the volume of visitors and the donations made by visitors to the exhibition, in order to achieve the humanitarian goal that the exhibition seeks to achieve in its current session.” She explained that the exhibition, in its eleventh session, seeks to empower refugees and displaced persons, include them in the labor market, integrate them with the local community, and contribute to building the future of their countries upon their return to it.
The proceeds of this year’s exhibition will go from space rents, attendance donations, and government institutions to support refugees and displaced persons, including training 360 refugees outside the camps with professional skills by enhancing the digital skills of young people to enable them to obtain jobs through approved electronic platforms, and in cooperation with humanitarian organizations in the refugee-hosting country.
The work includes empowering individuals through vocational training in crafts and handicrafts, including carpentry and sewing, to help them meet the requirements of life, which contributes to empowering their families, integrating them and including them in the labor market, and overcoming obstacles for them.
2000 refugee and displaced families receive support in various ways by financing their small projects, and assistance to refugee families outside the regular camps by providing them with caravans, fuel, food and health care.
Since the establishment of Ataya in 2012, it sheds light on various humanitarian issues and needs at the local and international levels, as its proceeds of 108 million dirhams were allocated to several humanitarian areas, including local aid, development projects, support for the education, health and infrastructure sectors.
100 exhibitors from 13 countries participated in the Ataya tournament this year, namely the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, Brazil, Qatar, India, Germany, Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Indonesia.
Female citizens of the Ataya Charitable Exhibition took a platform to launch their own projects, believing in the fair’s humanitarian objectives that seek to achieve social, health and economic development for many societies in different countries of the world.
