The official news agency in Sudan said that the country’s exports of pure gold amounted to a total of 21,832 kilograms, explaining that the United Arab Emirates was the buyer for all the amount of Sudanese gold that was exported during the period from the beginning of January until the end of June 2022, according to the data of the Central Bank of Sudan. .
The data stated that the total exports for the first half of this year exceed what was exported for the same period in 2021 by about 5 kilograms.
Sudan’s gold reserves, according to previous statements by the Ministry of Minerals, are about 1,550 tons.
The Bank of Sudan was the only body that sets the controls for buying gold and at the same time it is the only buyer for it, but the bank was unable to purchase everything produced by the private sector due to the economic conditions in the country.
Some gold export companies in Sudan say that the state’s policies towards gold impede its export and do not enable the Bank of Sudan to provide sufficient reserves of it, according to the news agency.
