“I regret the accident in San Pedro Garza García,” President Andrés Manuel López Obrador wrote on X on Wednesday evening (local time). “I express my condolences to the families and friends of the victims, as well as to the supporters of this organization.”
As the Spanish edition of CNN reported that the Mexican weather service warned of gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour in the region from Wednesday afternoon. However, Álvarez Maynez assures that civil defense teams checked the structure before the event, but the intensity of the gusts of wind simply surprised the organizers. However, according to the presidential candidate, the fatal incident remains under investigation.
Alvarez Máynez also said he would suspend all campaign activities following the collapse but would remain in the state to monitor the situation and the victims. In Mexico will hold presidential, parliamentary and regional elections on June 2nd. Recently, nine people in the country died in attacks on local election candidates and six more people died in an attack on a mayoral candidate.
