At least 20 people have died as a result of the crash of a boat with illegal migrants off the coast of Tunisia. This was announced on March 19 by the radio station Shems FM with reference to the official representative of the Civil Protection of the country.
The boat sank earlier, on March 18. Presumably, the tragedy occurred off the northeast coast of Tunisia near the city of Nabeul. Initially, 12 bodies were taken out of the water.
“Today, security personnel removed [еще] eight bodies off the coast of Nabeul, bringing the total [погибших] reached 20,” the statement said.
It is reported that most of the people on the boat were probably from Syria.
The search for people is still ongoing.
Earlier, on February 2, the crab fishing vessel “Akvanavt” sank at the berth of the port of Zarubino in Primorye, one person died, 14 crew members were evacuated.
The incident occurred at about 10:00 (03:00 Moscow time) at the berth of the Zarubinsk Fleet Base. The fishing vessel followed from the mission and began to sink during unloading. It was completely submerged within a few minutes.
