Racing walks through LaLiga Hypermotion at a record pace. And not only because they have added 33 points in 14 rounds and occupy the lead with eight more than the second placed team, but because with the victory achieved in Ferrol (1-2 with goals from Andrés and Karrikaburu) they have added seven consecutive away matches and have beaten their best record in history away from El Sardinero, set at six by the Verdiblanco team led by Alsúa from the 1949/50 campaign that ended with promotion to First Division. But that illusion that haunts all of racinguism is no longer relevant now, since glory is decided in May or June. Firm step, but little by little. The next stage comes in just six days, against Burgos CF in the Campos de Sport (Saturday 4-6:30 p.m.) and again with an atmosphere of ‘the Frenchman’s garden’.
Just as José Alberto had said in the preview in A Malata, Karrikaburu and 10 more would perform. And so it was, because the rest of the lineup was identical to the one that matched last weekend with Albacete Balompié (1-1). The Ferrol event, however, turned out very quickly for the Cantabrians on the day of the premiere of their third kit with the Lábaro as its symbol, who in the first minutes sent a ball to the left post of Jesús Ruiz through Pablo Rodríguez after a great combination of the canary with Vicente. In the second arrival, Andrés scored Racing’s first goal with a cross shot from the front with his left foot against which the local goalkeeper could do nothing. 0-1. Minute 13. Seventh for the Aguadulce striker. Little more could be asked for, although the first 45 still went a long way.
Karrikaburu Vaseline
And shortly after, Rodríguez recovered a ball in the opposite field, which he gave to Vicente and he saw Karrikaburu’s unmarking, who was knocked down inside the area. Penalty. Andrés caught the ball to try to score his second goal of the afternoon, but Jesús Ruiz stretched very well and cleared his shot from 11 meters. The Green and Whites, who maintained their lead on the scoreboard, did not collapse – whoever shoots it fails – and after half an hour they scored the second. The player from San Sebastián once again made a good uncheck, received a precise pass from Aldasoro, stood in front of Jesús Ruiz and with a beautiful shot scored the 0-2. Karrikaburu, who had already scored in the Copa del Rey, debuted with the Cantabrian shirt in LaLiga Hypermotion with an authentic goal.
At half-time, Cristóbal Parralo (who in previous campaigns occupied the local bench of El Sardinero), made a triple substitution, but José Alberto’s team continued to dominate the match. Karrikaburu, with a shot that was stopped by the Galician goalkeeper, and Álvaro Sanz, with a cross that Ezkieta sent to a corner kick, had the best options until in the 60th minute Jauregi scored for the Ferrolans. From there the racing coach brought in Maguette and Lago Junior, and in the 80th he sent out Ekain and Manu Hernando. The Cantabrians defended themselves with confidence and also generated arrivals to have sentenced. The emotion lasted until the final whistle, since Montero took a ball under the sticks in added time that almost became the tie. But this Racing 2024/25 is difficult to stop and is determined to continue at a record pace.
Incredible
Jose Alberto recognized that having won seven consecutive away games in LaLiga Hypermotion -full- is “incredible and really complicated”, the same adjective that he used to define his team’s match in Ferrol: “like all those in the category it was complicated, there was a rival in front of us and I think we knew how to suffer. That’s important because I think it gives maturity to the team.”
