On January 2, the Minor planet center (MPC) of the International Astronomical Union announced the discovery of a new asteroid that it called 2018 CN41. The body, seen for the first time by an astronomy -fond citizen, was about 240,000 km from the earth, even closer than the moon. For this reason, astronomers described him as a neo, an object close to the Earth that must be followed by his potential danger to our planet.
So far, nothing that comes out of the Routine of the MPC. But less than 17 hours later, The center rectified. In what they called an editorial notice, they announced that they eliminated 2018 CN41 of their records because it was not exactly an asteroid. They had confused him. It was a Tesla, a red convertible tesla.
The vehicle was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Cabo Cañaveral (Florida, USA) in February 2018 by Spacex, Elon Musk company, to test its new Falcon Heavy rocket, the most powerful from the Saturn V of the NASA Apollo program and partially reusable. The car, driven by a mannequin called ‘Starman’, intended to go to Mars’s orbit, something he never reached, but of course he did get the attention of the entire command. It was the first car released into space, which meant an out -of -standing advertising for Tesla.
The convertible is in an elliptical orbit that allows him to complete a turn around the sun every 557 days. It could follow dozens of millions of years if gravity does not bring Venus or the earth too close, exploding in its atmosphere.
According to the web whereisroadster.comwhich is dedicated to following the trajectory of the vehicle, the car is currently 384,803,421 kilometers from the earth, moving away from the planet at a speed of 10,660 km per hour (2.96 km per second).
The Tesla has exceeded its guarantee almost one hundred thousand times while moving around the Sun. If the battery still works, Starman would have heard Space Oddity almost 700,000 times since its launch. In addition, the stereo would have reproduced the ‘Galactapist autoestopist guide’ of Douglass Adams more than 10,400 times.
Deportivo does not represent a great contribution to science – more has served to confuse it – but it was a powerful advertising claim and a material testimony of the strength of its Falcon Heavy rocket. Researchers also believe that the vehicle could carry the largest bacteria load that has ever left beyond the atmosphere. Those microorganisms could be latent. Since Tesla never intended to land, it was not cleaned before takeoff.
