Roskosmos boss Rogozin shared during the Ukraine war in the past on Twitter. Now he messed with a US astronaut.
Russia / USA – The Ukraine war * heats up the spirits. The debate between private individuals on the Internet about the escalated conflict keeps escalating. But there are always questionable statements from well-known people.
The head of the Russian space agency Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, has allegedly threatened in the past to crash the ISS on the USA or Europe. Russia* is not at risk, according to Rogozin. It’s just one aspect of how the Ukraine war is affecting international cooperation in space*.
Roskosmos boss and US astronauts deliver fierce exchange of blows
But Rogozin continues to rant on Twitter. Most recently, he messed with astronaut Scott Kelly from the USA*. He had commented on a video of Rogozin, on which the flags of several countries were pasted over on a rocket. The Roskosmos boss wrote about the video that the rocket looks better without the flags. International cooperation has been scaled back by Russia in response to sanctions* imposed.
Kelly replied that Rogozin’s space program would be worthless without these flags and that he could get a job at McDonald’s – if the burger chain was still around in Russia anytime soon. He spoke to Rogozin on a first-name basis.
Roskosmos chief insults US astronauts and then deletes the tweet
In a subsequent tweet, he is said to have personally attacked Kelly: “Get lost you idiot! Otherwise you will be responsible for the death of the ISS.” Rogozin apparently removed the post shortly afterwards. However, Kelly shared a screenshot of the Roscosmos boss’ slip-up.
Dispute between US astronaut and head of Russian space agency on Twitter
In Russian, Kelly asks Rogozin why he deleted the offending tweet. “Don’t you want everyone to see what kind of child you really are?” However, Rogozin does not respond to the accusation. He replies in English and says Kelly is unnecessarily provoking him. The two do not know each other, according to the Roskosmos boss, and yet Kelly addresses him on a first-name basis. He himself doesn’t know how to be treated like that and wouldn’t let himself be treated like that. “They are defiant and destructive,” Rogozin concludes his tit-for-tat and follows suit.
Perhaps the dementia and aggression that Kelly is said to have developed is a result of four flights into space, Rogozin speculates. He invited Kelly to have his brain examined at a Russian institute of medicine and biology. Later, Rogozin Kelly apparently blocked. Kelly finally posted a screenshot of the inaccessible profile with the words: “What, Dimon, does the truth hurt your eyes?”(mda)*Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
