Aston Martin All-Inclusive
Until a few months ago the idea of a dream team formed by Andy Cowell (former Mercedes engine boss), Enrico Cardile (former Ferrari technical director) and Adrian Newey (former Red Bull technical director) reunited under the Aston Martin roof it might seem like the most classic of uncontrolled market rumours.
And instead the first two pieces have fallen into place and it has been rumored for some time that the third – Newey – could soon give in to the convincing flattery of Lawrence Stroll. And join a rather large technical organization that also includes among its ranks Bob Bell as Executive Technical Director (already Renault technical director in the 2005 and 2006 world championships) and Dan Fallows (Red Bull aerodynamics manager until 2021).
The Canadian tycoon is sparing no expensebeing able to boast the new headquarters in Silverstone, the partnership with Aramco and the future one with Honda (from 2026) as the flagships of its project.
The Paris Saint-Germain of F1
An approach very similar to that seen in football since Paris Saint Germain purchased in 2011 by Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s Qatar Sport Investment. With one goal: win, at any cost. 2 billion invested in the market in thirteen years. Champions and top-class coaches brought to the Parc des Princes: Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Beckham, Carlo Ancelotti, David Luiz, Angel Di Maria, Dani Alves, Gigi Buffon, Sergio Ramos, Gigio Donnarumma, Luis Enrique. And a dream trident, formed by Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar: all together on the same team.
It seems to want to do the same Lawrence Stroll in F1 with Aston Martin, with Autosprint which tells how it is “aiming for Max Verstappenwith which negotiations are already underway with a view to 2026″. In short, increasingly higher and more ambitious goals.
But is crazy spending a guarantee of victory? Not really, Paris Saint Germain is still chasing its first Champions League…
