A US citizen, Kyle Young, was sentenced to seven years in prison for assaulting a police officer during the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, the US Justice Department announced. The 38-year-old American citizen was among the people who attacked police officers near the Lower East Terrace of the Capitol.
The man, from the state of Iowa, was arrested on April 14 last year along with two other people who participated in the clashes with him, and pleaded guilty on May 5. Judge Amy Berman Jackson called Young one of Capitol Hill’s most dangerous assailants. The man will be served the 17 months already spent in prison. The man will also have to pay a fine of two thousand dollars, and at the end of his sentence he will have to serve another three years of probation.
