The Asian and Pacific stock exchanges closed trading this Wednesday, 2nd, higher, once again following the good performance of Wall Street.
In Tokyo, the Japanese Nikkei index rose 1.68% to 27,533.60 points, boosted by companies that reported solid balance sheets, such as Keyence and ANA Holdings, whose shares jumped more than 6%. Other Asian stock markets, such as those in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, remained closed today due to the Lunar New Year holidays.
In Oceania, the Australian stock market was supported by shares from mining companies and large domestic banks. The S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.17% in Sydney at 7,087.70.
Risk appetite in the Asia-Pacific region came after New York stocks closed higher for the third straight session on Tuesday. Throughout January, however, Wall Street racked up heavy losses amid concerns over the prospect of a US interest rate hike. With information from Dow Jones Newswires.
