A footballer to take into account, who has already been called up by Tite, and who seeks to make the leap to Europe, who knows if still linked to Red bull.
How are you after having passed your positive in Covid-19?
-I’m coming back little by little, resuming the technical and physical rhythm. I felt few symptoms but standing for ten days, at rest, was not easy. I coped well with the situation, I am recovering the rhythm of the game, I returned to participate, I gave two assists … I am feeling good and I hope to continue the work. I want to get back to the level I was at, maintaining good numbers of goals and assists and thus be able to continue helping my team.
For the public has not seen him play too much, how do you describe yourself as a footballer?
-I consider myself a very disciplined player, with a lot of dedication, always looking for victory and leaving my life on the field for that to happen. I work a lot on a day-to-day basis to be at a high level, I put in a lot of effort in each training session. You cannot lack character, concentration, will … On the field my main characteristics are speed, finishing from outside the area, the vision of the game to find my partner in the face of goal. Tactically I have always tried to be a hardworking player.
He is one of the players who has generated the most goals in the Brasileirao, do you like to score or assist more?
-Help my team to come out with the three points in what interests me the most. When the collective goes well, the individual always appears. Thank God I am appearing in goals, assists and that is being very favorable for the team. You had to choose, is it clear that the goal is not? (laughs) I am an attacker, vertical, so the goal is the most important thing. The attacker who is an attacker cannot live without a goal.
Last year he only scored one goal and this season he has 8 in Brasileirao and another 7 in Sudamericana, what is the reason for this improvement?
-Before the last Brasileirao I managed to make a great state, I received individual awards, but in the Brasileirao I did not do so well, I have no problem admitting that. It was a phase in which I was able to mature, I learned a lot. I think all players go through that, through a phase of ups and downs and that also happened with me. I tried to run a lot, to compensate tactically, to help in the marking, helping as I could. It served to reflect, learn and mature a lot. This year I was able to reap the fruits of that evolution and now I don’t want to stop there, I want to continue evolving and be even better next season.
Do you think you are ready to make the leap to Europe?
-It’s a dream, I’m not lying, I always talk about wanting to have that experience of playing in Europe, a dream since I was a child. I want to have the opportunity to come to Europe, to live the experience of playing in the most important leagues, to know new cultures, to show my work to the whole world. No one is ever ready 100%, we need to be in constant evolution. I am working hard to get to the level of Europe and one day be ready to go and settle down. When the opportunity arises I hope to be prepared. I think my characteristic of intensity, dedication, of being tactically disciplined goes well with European football.
Is there a championship or team where you would especially like to play?
-I cannot speak of a specific club, there are many great clubs and wearing those shirts would be the realization of a dream. However, my dream is to play at the Camp Nou, where my great idols played, great world names, my idols from Brazil. I always wanted to play there and I’m going to work to make that happen one day. I don’t know whether to play for or against, but I want to have that experience (laughs).
What player did you look at as a young man, a footballer that you had as an idol?
-The player he most admired was Ronaldinho Gaucho. I always followed him, he always tried to do his dribbles, his passes. That’s why I’m talking about the Camp Nou, the history he made there, his goals … He was a star, an idol for all young Brazilians. Today we are privileged to be in the same generation as the two great stars of all history, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. They are the great players we have to look at.
Bragantino is a very young team and they take on Paranaense, who has more experience. How do you see the final?
-We have a younger team but we are focused on this final. We have all matured a lot in recent years, we have learned from important matches, we have gained experience and we were able to show that on the field until we reached the final. Athletico has a great team, he wants to be champion again, players who were part of that conquest in the past are still in the squad. Then it deserves all the care and respect. We are going to face the final very seriously, to be the match of my life. And it will be the most important game of the careers of many of the players who are here. We will need a lot of calm, a lot of dedication, concentration, since it will be a match of details and we cannot fail. We hope to have an inspired day and be able to return with the trophy.
You were already present in the Qualifiers in September, how important is it for you to make your debut with the Brazilian team?
-The Brazilian team was a dream come true, something that I always idealized since I was a child, but you never imagine when it will arrive, do you? It takes time to assimilate … Being summoned, being part of the group, it was an incredible moment. I want to continue working to reap the fruits again. I still haven’t been able to get into the field, so I’m going to keep working to make that happen one day. Wearing the shirt of the Brazilian team is not for everyone, it is the result of years of work, the work of many people, so it is a huge responsibility. But I’m going to put a lot of effort into making that dream come true.
