Arrested in Murcia one of the most wanted criminals in Europe | The truth

The National Police announced this Wednesday the arrest in Murcia of a criminal who appeared on the list of Europol’s most wanted fugitives. Dutch authorities lost track of him after he managed to flee to Spain after escaping from prison, where he was serving a sentence for two robberies with firearms.

In one of the assaults for which he was convicted, the detainee and other accomplices attacked one of the store owners with such violence that he ended up dying as a result of the beatings. The Dutch authorities offered a reward of 10,000 euros for any clue related to the fugitive.

The investigation began in 2022, when the FAST Netherlands team contacted Fast Spain. Given the high degree of danger of the fugitive and the need for immediate intervention with special investigative measures, the entire case was handled within the framework of the European network of Enfast fugitives.

Escaped from a psychiatric hospital

The fugitive was serving a sentence of five years and six months of internment for these crimes in a psychiatric hospital, since he had serious mental disorders. Last June, while he was serving his sentence, he organized a plan to escape from the center with another inmate convicted of the same acts. Both managed to make a hole in the walls of the place and escape outside, where a vehicle was waiting for them to flee quickly.

A week after the escape, the police arrested his partner, but the now detainee had already managed to flee to Spain, becoming an international fugitive and being included in the Enfast and Europol list of the most wanted in Europe.

Already in Spain, an intense investigation began immediately, focused from the outset on the Region of Murcia, since the fugitive’s network of contacts coincided with several municipalities near the capital. After five months of investigation and close cooperation between the two countries, with daily exchange of information through the Dutch link in Spain, it was determined that the fugitive was frequenting a shopping center in Murcia.

Once the fence was tightened, the entrances and exits of the shopping center were covered and a large device was organized with more than eight policemen who quickly proceeded to arrest him, without giving him any opportunity to carry out any escape maneuver.

Third arrest in a week

This operation is the third hit by Spanish security forces on Europol’s most wanted list in the last week. Last Monday, the Croatian Josip Mihajlović, who has been on the run since 2019, was arrested when he shot a taxi driver.

On the other hand, last Friday the Civil Guard reported on the arrest in the municipality of Vilafant (Girona) of Petrisor Lupu, a boss of organized crime in Romania, who was also on the list of most wanted criminals in Europe and who was He considered himself the most dangerous criminal in his country.
