In order to facilitate clearance at the Polish border for refugees from the Ukraine, women and children are let through with practically no controls.
According to border guards, more than 377,400 refugees from the neighboring country have arrived in Poland since the start of the Ukraine war.
On Monday alone, 100,000 people crossed the border, the Polish border guards announced on Twitter on Tuesday. The queues in front of the check-in on the Ukrainian side of the border have shortened because Poland’s government and President Andrzej Duda have asked the Ukrainian border guard to simplify the procedure, a government spokesman said in Warsaw. Women and children would now be let through with virtually no checks. dpa
