“The terrace floors are wider than the upper floors of the house, and the parts that are wider than the rest of the building have to be demolished out of the way first, so that we can proceed with demolishing the upper floors”, project manager of the city of Espoo Mikko Kivinen tells.

Demolition of the higher levels is scheduled to begin next week.

The building disposal started in July with demolition work done indoors.

The demolition of the office building, completed in 1971, has been debated since the premises were left empty in 2008. The use of the building was eventually abandoned due to serious indoor air problems.

In place of the town hall, which is to be demolished, several municipal and commercial services have been planned in the House of Espoo residents, which unites them under one roof.
