Marosa, a scale up specialized in VAT and tax technology in Europe, has received an investment of 12 million euros from Aquiline, American venture capital firm focused on technology and financial services. This operation involves the first external capital increase of fintech. The investment will help accelerate its growth strategy, expand its investment in R&D and cover new modules in its VAT declaration and e-invoicing software.
Founded in 2017 by Pedro Pestana da SilvaMarosa is a technology provider based in London and Vigo that helps large companies to centralize and automate administrative obligations around the world, with Europe as their main source of business. The firm generates 90% of its business from foreign clients for whom it also manages obligations from other countries.
With more than 1,200 clients, the flagship fintech software, VATifyoffers a comprehensive cloud solution that centralizes electronic invoicing and VAT declarations throughout Europe. The company provides a combined tax knowledge and software solution, while serving as a single point of contact for its clients in all the countries in which they operate.
Aquiline’s investment will enable Marosa to further accelerate product development, go-to-market approach and international expansion, while capitalizing on the significant regulatory and market push throughout Europe. Recent regulatory changes, such as the adoption of mandatory e-invoicing and real-time reporting in Europe, have underlined the importance of digital VAT compliance solutions.
Digitization of processes
The company is at the center of these requirements, helping large multinationals stay ahead of regulatory changes by digitizing electronic invoicing and VAT processes. Pedro Pestana da Silva, founder and CEO of Marosahas commented that he is very satisfied with the entry of his first external investor.
