Who with Martin?
When Aleix Espargarò officially announced his decision to hang up his helmet at the end of the 2024 season, the Aprilia she didn’t let herself be caught unprepared, rushing into Ducati to sign Jorge Martin, disappointed by the procrastination of the Borgo Panigale brand.
The arrival of the current world championship leader, however, was not welcomed by Maverick Vinales, who decided to listen and accept the KTM offer for 2025, therefore opting for a new adventure for the future.
Already in recent days Massimo Rivola, CEO of the team, had not hidden his desire to bet on an Italian driver in case he was unable to continue with Vinales.
Bezzecchi arrives
The options on Aprilia’s table are not many, and essentially reduced to Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio of the VR46 team and Franco Morbidelli of Pramac. According to what was recently told by Sky and relaunched in the Sunday edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the chosen one would be precisely Bezzecchiso much so that the Milanese newspaper talks about contacts prior to Mugello which have become increasingly concrete in the last few hours and which point to an official announcement that could arrive as early as this week.
After an excellent 2023 in which he came third in the world championship, with 3 victories in the GP and 1 in the Sprint, ‘Bez’ is not managing to repeat the same performances, struggling with a GP23 that is not suited to his driving style. The pilot from Rimini is in fact currently eleventh in the standings with 45 points.
The domino effect at Ducati therefore continues, and for a Marc Marquez who will wear the colors of the official team, there are three riders who have decided to look elsewhere: Enea Bastianini in KTM, Jorge Martin and – in all probability – Marco Bezzecchi in Aprilia.
