Apple and Google are working together to warn about the detection of unwanted location trackers. Alerts are now issued to iOS and Android users if a device is being used to track them without their knowledge. Something that thieves are currently using.
Thanks to this new function, the misuse of devices designed to help locate personal items can be mitigated. In recent months, thieves have installed a AirTag or other Bluetooth device in the victims’ car to track their movements.
Apple is already implementing the feature in iOS 17.5, while Google does it on devices with Android 6.0+.
Stopping thieves who use tracking devices
From now on, users will receive an alert “[artículo] It’s moving with you.” on their devices if an unknown Bluetooth tracking device is detected to be moving with them for a while; regardless of the platform the device is paired with.
When you receive an alert on iOS, it means that someone else’s AirTag, a Find My network-compatible accessory, or another industry-specification compatible Bluetooth tracker is moving with it.
The tracker may be attached to an item that the user borrowed, but if this is not the case, the iPhone can see the tracker’s ID, make it make a sound to locate it, and access instructions for disabling it.
Bluetooth tag manufacturers, such as Chipolo, eufy, Jio, Motorola and Pebblebee, confirm that their upcoming tracking devices will be compatible with this new feature.
