Thousands of walkie talkies, used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon, have exploded in what appears to be a second operation against the Shiite organizationfollowing yesterday’s attack and large-scale pager explosions that left at least 12 people dead, including two children, and thousands injured.
An al-Jazeera correspondent reported explosions heard earlier in Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital and a stronghold of Hezbollah. According to al-Arabiya, citing a source close to Hezbollah and rescue workers, walkie-talkies exploded in Dahiyeh. According to the reporter, explosions were also heard in other areas of southern Lebanon. The al-Mayadeen station, believed to be close to Hezbollah, reported that radio equipment exploded in Beirut and other areas of Lebanon, speaking of a “potential new Israeli attack.”
